A Brief Introduction

Nikhil Sinha is Senior Advisor to HCL Corporation and the founding Vice Chancellor of the Shiv Nadar University.  He is a leading international expert on the information and communication technology industries and has extensive experience as a corporate executive, academician and consultant.

Nikhil's  professional career has spanned over 30 years and he has held senior positions in several organizations.  In the past he has been President & Co-CEO of Silverskills, a global provider of business process and technology outsourcing services, Executive Vice President of eFunds Corporation, a leading payment management company and President & CEO of iDLX Technology Partners, an IT development company.  Most recently, he was a Venture Partner at Adams Capital Management, a venture capital firm focused on early stage investments in technology companies.  In 1994, along with his partner, Richard Lariviere, Nikhil launched one the first consulting firms aimed at helping US technology companies make investments in India.  Nikhil began his professional life in the Government of India in 1983.  In his academic career, Nikhil served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas from 2002 to 2005 and a faculty member at the University from 1991 to 1998.

Nikhil serves on several corporate boards including those of HCL Infosystems, one of India’s leading IT companies and Silverskills Pvt. Ltd.  He is a Director Emeritus of the US-India Business Council and a member of the Advisory Board of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.  He also serves on the Boards of the Heritage Society of Austin and Greenlights for Nonprofit Success, two leading Texas non-profit organizations.  He is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Dell Social Innovation Competition, a global event that aims to identify and recognize the most innovative social entrepreneurship business plans around the world. 

Nikhil has an M.A. and Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from St. Stephen's College, Delhi.  He has published numerous articles and papers in scholarly journals and conferences and has been awarded a number of research, publishing and academic grants and awards.
